This is the age when the children derive real pleasure from being able to move. They want to reach everything, have everything, and do things by themselves. As they strive for movement independence, their greatest desire is to climb to the highest heights with no thought of the possible danger. In Totland, we provide a safe, positive environment.

As the toddling tots increase in their coordination and balance, they begin to develop higher levels of movement such as skipping, throwing, catching, and tumbling. It is at this age that we provide experiences in verbal movement, games, obstacle courses, and expressive movement to music.  Our Tot Aerobics and activities not only enhance body awareness, but tone and strengthen muscles.

When words are paired with actions, vocabulary develops and concepts are better understood.

Terrific Tots equipment, songs, exercises, fingerplays, and activities provide the perfect opportunity for vocabulary development.

Toddling Tots (1-2 years) & Tumbling Tots (2-3½ years) are surprised each week with colorful and interesting objects to stimulate vocabulary and reinforce concepts.

During each 10-12 week session of our Terrific Tots program, the Toddling Tots and Tumbling Tots participate in specially planned activities relating to one of our four themes (listed below).

Body Parts
Our tots delight in pretending to wash their tummies with our tot-sized wash cloths to the tune of Sesame Street's "Everybody Wash".

Colors and Shapes
The "Shape Up Parade" begins as the tots march through Totland waving their colorful foam shapes in the air.

Opposites
Going "up" the steps and "down" the slide, or crawling "in" and "out" of the tunnel are just two ways of developing opposite concepts.

Basic Movements
Learning to follow directions is the main objective of this session. Here the tots will "walk around the blue square" or "hop around the yellow triangle" in musical games and activities.
